The nights are drawing in…

Hey all, Chris here and I just wanted to say thank you to folks who continue to order my 3PO LED Light Kit available through my shop. I’m amazed at their popularity, I never thought there would be much demand for them but I’m even more humbled by the kind words folks have to say about them. So thank you to all who have ordered a kit for their protocol droid projects!

I’m looking forward to doing more in the near future but as always the day to day stuff has to take priority. There will be some interesting updates soon, I had for instance suggested there will be a few completed C-3PO helmets listed a long time back but I’ve been so busy with building my workshop and trying to find time for a little rest between that and the day job so you’ll see I haven’t had much to say of late but I’ll try to do better.

Speaking of the workshop, it’s moving along well! Last weekend I dug a trench for electric cabling, I also have some worktops on order so will be fitting them soon. I do have a little finesse to add to a lot of things but….pictures say a thousand words so when I’m ready I’ll do a it of a write up. I try to keep up-to-date with the socials so if you check the links on the site to Instagram you might see a few updates. Who knows, maybe it will inspire a few of you to also build a workshop, maybe (more likely) it’ll serve as a ‘don’t do this’. Either way, lets find out!

Until next time, take care and all the best!

A long awaited update

Well, I’ve finally got back to realising that between the day job, home DIY and the odd smaller project that I’ve neglected site updates a little. However, there’s been a trickle of interest for the 3PO eye kits still and which makes me think I might be able to take them to the next level soon*

But, what else has been happening? Well…..

Since moving places just under 18 months ago now rooms have been updated, floors have been dug up and then dug out again, gardens have been dug up, walls knocked down and workshops erected….. and yet nothing is still finished but it will be and I’m sure it will all be worth the wait. Eventually.

The workshop was taking all my efforts some time back, planning and prep, the ground work alone took months due to bad weather and then due to rain I realised I need to make further preparations…..so hopefully that’s all ok now. I’ll do a separate write up on it because naturally I have lots of pro’s/con’s to mention and who knows, maybe some one reading this will find it useful when undertaking their own build or employing someone.

For now, I’ll leave you with a pic of me as Goldie. A personal reminder for me that when you put your mind to it you can achieve almost anything, it just takes a little elbow grease and perseverance.

Thank you

Hey all, I wanted to take a minute to show some appreciation to those who have supported my efforts creating a better version of my 3PO LED Light Kit. Without Droidbuilders and the 3PO Builders community as well as a handful of volunteers to test the kits providing valuable feedback I wouldn’t have the kit to where it is today. So, thank you! If you happen to have a kit and are enjoying it or have any comments/suggestions please drop me a line via the contact page!

In other news, in coming months I have a few 3PO lids to relinquish as I’m running out of space to work on new ones for my own costume and displays. These all originate from Jesse M’s 3d files, if you are interested in 3d printing you need to seek these out on the 3PO Builders community page or on Thingiverse where he uploads the files. The files are great, Jesse also does a stirling job updating them for accuracy when he has time and his work has opened up the world of building protocol droids to many. With his permission I am able to sell on my finished items to those that may not have access to a 3d printer or perhaps just the time to complete their own. Please note, I do not offer a service for printing any of these files. I will only be slimming down my collection over time as I build from newer files or better fitment for my costume or display.

The helmets I’ll have available will be a mix of versions, varying materials (such as PLA+ or engineering resin) and finished to a degree that they are potentially suitable for wearing or just nice on display. They stem from my own trials in techniques/materials and I would best describe some as ‘slight seconds’. There’s not going to many available and I hope the price reflects the work that’s gone into them. They will also come complete with one of my LED Light kits and I may/may not sell some with CNC’d brasswork – this is all dependant on how my own upcoming gold 3PO version turns out!

Thanks for reading and all the best!

I made a digital thing!

So for sometime I’ve been fiddling around with logo’s, had lots of idea’s in my head and I still have a few I’d like to try out but for now here’s a simple logo which, I again have a few idea’s for. Such as creating into my own tea coaster because why not?!

Since I’ll be attending a few conventions I thought best to have something with my website on and a bit of paper with some of my scrawls on it doesn’t quite cut the mustard. I wouldn’t want to assume folk can read what passes for my handwriting so something simplified (I think) should suffice and save a lot of people asking “What does this say?”!

If you happen to see this on a table at your next comic con event next to a bunch of cool stuff, let me know what you think!
